1st Tuesday of the month

10:00 am – 11:00 am

Program included in regular admission price.

Complimentary for Members of the Mississippi AG Museum.

Join the Mississippi AG Museum on the first Tuesday of each month for Story Time with Uncle Story!  Uncle Story (a puppet) and special guest readers will share stories that relate to agriculture, forestry and animals. Afterwards, visitors can head to the “Hands-On History Touch Station” which will offer educational artifacts that visitors can interact with.

This puppet based story time is perfect for ages 2 – 5 and aims to foster a love and appreciation for reading while also introducing participants to a basic understanding of agriculture and forestry.  The books read will be in line with the Mississippi Department of Education’s approved reading list for the targeted age groups, and relate back to agriculture and or forestry.

More about Uncle Story: Story Littleton Parkman is the great-grandson of Jasper and Amelia Parkman and the last family member to live in the Fortenberry-Parkman Farmstead, currently located on the grounds of the MS AG Museum.  The farmstead was originally located in modern day Jefferson Davis county and was relocated to the AG Museum grounds in the early 1980’s.  Though he had no children of his own, he was fondly referred to as Uncle Story by his nieces and nephews. There are many references to and memories of him in the documentation provided by the family upon donation of the farmstead.
